| When you need a journal article, a book, or some other item your library does not own, they will attempt to get a copy from a library that does own the material. You will need to ask at your local library for details on how to use interlibrary loan. You do not need to know where the item is located in order to request it. | |||

| There are services that allow you to search the index of periodicals, but charge a fee to e-mail or fax the text of the article to you. These fees can range from a couple dollars to fourteen or fifteen dollars. The main advantage of these services is the speed with which you can get a copy of an article. | |||
