Interlibrary Loan from a Local Library
When you need a journal article, a book, or some other item your library does not own, they will attempt to get a copy from a library that does own the material. You will need to ask at your local library for details on how to use interlibrary loan. You do not need to know where the item is located in order to request it.

Loansome Doc
"Individual users of NLM's PubMed (TM) and Internet Grateful Med (TM) (IGM) do not have access to DOCLINE, but they can make use of its services by ordering documents through Loansome Doc, a document ordering feature."

DOCLINE

"DOCLINE is the National Library of Medicine's automated interlibrary loan request and referral system. Its purpose is to provide document delivery service to health professionals by rapidly routing interlibrary loan requests among libraries in the National Network of Libraries of Medicine® (NN/LM)(TM) ."

Pay Per Article Document Delivery (FAX, e-mail, ground mail)
There are services that allow you to search the index of periodicals, but charge a fee to e-mail or fax the text of the article to you. These fees can range from a couple dollars to fourteen or fifteen dollars. The main advantage of these services is the speed with which you can get a copy of an article.
